I guess I could post my final project

April 29th, 2012

Soooo… I did the wrap-up for my project, and I posted the video there. But just in case I’m supposed to have a separate post for the final product of my final project, here it is!

Enjoy ๐Ÿ™‚

The last check list for the semester

April 29th, 2012

Step One: Schedule a time block to review my work, Done! Meeting is Monday at 2:30

Step Two: Organize my blog, Done! Everything is easy to find and I will easily be able to showcase my work during my meeting and it’s easy for anyone who’s checking it out to find what they want.

Step Three: Post about my final project, Done! Check it out here ๐Ÿ™‚

Step Four: Final reflection post, Done! Check it out here!

Step Five: Still in the process of deciding how I want to archive my site. I think I am going to wait until my meeting to officially do it! I think I want to keep my site open for posting, but I’m not 100% on that one. I can’t make up my mind and I want to hear the options again of how to properly archive or move it over so I can continue with it.

So, step five is the only incomplete-ish one. But that will be taken care of shortly.

Huzzah! The end is nigh!

I don’t know why I’m talking like that haha

Finals week really does get the best of people…

Kind of sad that we’re almost done with this class forever,

Why I did what I did

April 29th, 2012

–>For my final project, I wanted to do something with kinetic typography.. Why, you ask? Well during out video assignments section, one of our choices was to do kinetic typography. It was really hard and I was really mad when my like three hours of work came out to be a 17 second video. I was pissed. So I was really interested and intrigued by trying to do this and I really wanted to do more. Hence, my final project. Well some of you may be asking “Well just what is kinetic typography?” Kinetic typography in a basic definition is moving text.. That’s all, nothing difficult, right? WRONG!!! For my project, I decided I wanted to do kinetic typography for a song and it’s taken a long time. The idea may be simple, but have you ever tried using Adobe After Effects? Not exactly a walk in the park. Once you get the process down though, it’s just tedious and time consuming but the idea seems so simple to me now.

Making a movie out of my project

April 26th, 2012

I am finally done with all the animations and pictures that I want to add to my project. It’s taken a long time and I’ve put a lot of work so hopefully it shows! I’m excited and I like the way it turned out ๐Ÿ™‚ Well at least what I could preview, so as long as everything goes over well I’ll be in good shape. The rendering part is going to take about 17 minutes on this desktop, which makes me laugh because it’s over 2 minutes long and has tons of animations and pictures. The first kinetic typography I did, was 17 seconds and the rendering took over 30 minutes on my laptop. So I’m glad that I won’t have to sit too long to wait and see how it turned out for good. Well, this may very well be the last post about working on my project.. The next two posts will be actually showing the project and my write-up on doing the project. I’m almost done ๐Ÿ™‚

So close I can taste it ๐Ÿ˜›

Tis the end, and here’s what I have to say

Almost there….

April 25th, 2012

SO.. my final project is almost done and I love it! ๐Ÿ™‚ I’ve added all sorts of things, such as pictures and animations for those pictures and some text. I opened an unknown world in Adobe After Effects and realized there is just soooo much that I could do. They have tons of options for animations and I am barely scratching the surface. Of the 2:15 of the song, I only have 30 seconds more, aka a few more layers to add some sort of animation to. I am pleased with the way it’s turning out and I really accomplished a lot last night. Hopefully tomorrow night I’ll be able to finish the animations and sit through the rendering process!

Almost done,

More progress and set-backs!

April 23rd, 2012

Well I finally have all the words lined up with the audio so I’m super stoked about that!! I’ve even added a few animations so far, and playing around with what I can do in After Effects is kind of fun. The set-backs I faced were actually my fault. I was trying to use too much Ram to preview what I have so far and I kept getting an error message that repeatedly popped up saying Can’t Create Drawing Surface. I couldn’t get it to go away unless I clicked like 50 times, and occasionally After Effects would just crash. So I figured out that it does work when I preview short sections at a time. I just won’t be able to view the video in its entirety until I render it, which by the way.. I tried that because I thought there was something wrong with my work, but it turned out to render into the movie just fine, but when I played that the audio was gone. Lucky for me, I’ve used other programs that can mix audio and video so it’s no problem to add the audio later if I don’t figure out how to render it with the audio. Again, this is my first time with After Effects so it’s all new to me. It is a fun process, but it’s definitely been time consuming and a bit stressful when I try to do too much at once. Hopefully tomorrow night I will be able to work more and get all the animations I want in there.

Wish me luck,

My Create Assignments Wrap-Up

April 22nd, 2012

Create a new you

This is a visual assignment, just simply editing a picture of yourself in way that alters some of your features.

Contrasting Items

This is another visual assignment about taking a picture of contrasting items, such as life and death, day and night, young and old, etc.

Your own numa numa video

This assignment was inspired by our class discussion, and the task it to make a numa numa video, singing along and dancing like a fool. Poor quality also adds usefulness!

Alternative Video Game Cover

This is a design assignment that I thought would be fun for gamers. There are similar assignments for books and movies, but I thought I’d create one for video games.

These are my four created assignments for this semester! Be sure to click the links and check them out ๐Ÿ™‚

Tutorial for Are you up for the challenge

April 19th, 2012

For this audio assignment, http://assignments.ds106.us/assignments/the-contest-nobody-could-win/, I decided to randomly pick 6 songs from my computerโ€™s music library. I did however stick to one genre, country. To me I donโ€™t think itโ€™s difficult to tell what the songs are but for other people, yโ€™all with have to let me know.

Here’s the final version
